Hey guys, as some of you may know, my character has recurring nightmares and flashbacks about being in a platoon during the D-DAY Invasion and then onward. A made a list of characters that he will be surrounded by in his platoon. Though I would give a little insight to them as they will play a big part in my promos. These 12 men are in his C-47 Stick during the Normady Invasion.
Captain John Clarke
A sturdy looking man in his early 30s. Short black hair, medium to strong build. Tall, about 6'2". Strong, sofisticated, one track mind. Cares for his soldiers a great deal. Works well under pressure, but the loss of a fellow man affects him deeply. He is a family man, has a wife Joan, two sons and one daughter. John Jr, 14 - Christopher - 9, and Delilah - 4. Signed up in 1941. Commands Fox Company, 501st, 101st Airborne. From Chicago, Illonios. ((COMPANY COMMANDER))
Corporal Phil Burgess
In his mid twenties. Slim to medium build, short black hair. Deals with fear sometimes by staying quiet, and taking it all in. But in battle, can be quite fericious. Always seem to make smart decisions. Doesn't want to lead a platoon, just wants to keep himself and his fellow men safe, so they can all come home together. With the exception of the Captain, he is the highest ranking soldier in the 12 man C-47 stick, he knows this and fears that if anything happens to Clarke, the men will look to him on what to do - he regrets the thought of responcibility. He is also a smoker, as many soldiers were. Looks up a great deal to Captain Clarke. From Dallas, Texas. ((ASSAULT TEAM))
Private First Class Matt Johnston
Johnston is the comedian of the guys. He is a short man, about 5'8", but doesn't let that bother him. He red hair, and a small dodgy mustache too. No-one is sure whether he grew it as a joke for the guys - or whether he actually likes it. Even in the face of danger or the centre of battle, he continues to make wisecracks. This is his own way of dealing with fear, as it takes his mind away from it - and somewhat the rest of the soldiers too. He is only in his very early 20's. Doesn't get along with Pfc. Ronald Bellington as he feels he takes things too seriously. From San Antonio, Texas. ((ASSAULT TEAM))
Private First Class Ronald "Bello" Bellington
A serious character, who believes in the mission down to his very bone. He is about 5'11", and has mousey brown hair. He looks much older than the rest of the squad, by a good 5 or so years. Bellington was originally with the 1st Infantry Division, The Big Red One with his brother Michael. Michael was killed in an ambush in Oran, North Africa during a German ambush. Ronald was by his side. Ronald believed that the men around them weren't qualified enough to deal with the ambush, and that's why his brother was killed. He later joined the 82nd Airborne Division because he wanted to fight with the best; believing it was his most likely chance of survival. His father was a Lieutenant during The Great War. Hopes to someday make Corporal, and feels that it should have happend already. He was a Sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division, and hates the fact that he has been bumped down to Pfc; but that was the rule of the 82nd, you start from the bottom and work your way up. Doesn't like Pfc. Matt Johnston because of his Devil may care attitude. The two constantly bicker. He is a well trained soldier, and fearless in battle. Has a distinctive battle scar on the left hand side of his face - from the brow, over the eye; to the lower cheek. The same as his rival Johnston, he is also from San Antonio, Texas. ((ASSAULT TEAM))
Private First Class Paddy "The Mick" McGuiness
Originally with the Irish Guards, Paddy is the foreigner out the group. He has a slight cocky attitude. He was the assistant gunner with a tank team, but in the end got sick of the idea of being a rolling target. He believed that being on foot patrol was a lot safer, finding it easier to take cover. The squad are always winding him up about him thinking that a plane recieving Anti-Aircraft fire was safer than being in a tank. He is in his early twenties, has aurburn hair and bright green eyes. Thinks that because he has been in combat before, he should run the entire squad; this can cause controversy with the rest of the group. Originally from Dublin, he now recides in Miami, Florida. ((BASE OF FIRE TEAM))
Private First Class Jeremy "Ox Tail" Williams
Age 24, brown hair and normally a lot of stubble. Known to his peers as 'THE OX' or 'OX TAIL' because of his size, Williams is a dedicated soldier, and will always put himself in harms way to save a fellow man. He stands at 6'3" and and is of a tremendous build. Very strong looking, the men plan to stick behind him when encountering the Germans. A fierce soldier who never questions an order. Even though he would never admit it to his men, Captain John Clarke favours Williams - as he reminds him of himself. Even when the other men are enjoying a little R&R, Jeremy Williams was still in training. Whether it be a 10 miles jog, rifle training or just map and orienteering training, 'THE OX' would be always there. The guys would secrectly call him the 'kiss-ass' of the group, but never to his face. He is from a tiny town called Apple Creek in North Dakota. ((BASE OF FIRE TEAM))
Private Harry "Hairy" Marino
The Italian guy. At the age of 21, he is tall, dark and handsome. He has distinguising bushy eyebrows; giving him the nickname "Hairy Marino". An uneased guy who aims at nothing but to get back home. He is a strongly trained soldier, but can be known to panick sometimes in battle. Unaware of how to make split-second decisions has kept him as a Private. He's not really there for the medals, or for the accolade. He just wants to do his time, and then go home. Originally in prison for an attempted burgulary; Harry was given the choice of prison, or the army. He chose the army thinking it would give him a ticket home, unaware that the War was about to come about. Move from Naples, Italy as a child with his father - who works in a hospital as a doctor. His father was always working and never around, Harry blames this for his rebellious ways. He lives in The Bronx, New York. ((BASE OF FIRE TEAM))
Private Miles "Baby Face" Carey
A young and very nervous blonde. Claims he is 18, but several think he lied about his age to join the army. He joined the paratroopers thinking that fighting with the best would dramatically improve his chances of surviving. He is not a violent man, and fears combat a lot. Right from high school, he enlisted - not really knowing what he was getting himself into. He looked toward the glitz and glamour that the advertisements showed the paratroopers recieved, plus the extra 50 bucks a month came in handy. He's percieved as the 'child' of the stick, and looks greatly upto Pfc. Matt Johnston, much to Pfc. Ronald Bellingtons dismay. Miles sees Matt as an older brother, and are often seen exchanging words. He tends to follow him around everywhere, knowing that when things get tough - Matt will be there to comfort him. ((BASE OF FIRE TEAM))
Private Dexter "Dex" King
The one no-one really likes, but respects. Dexter comes from Jackson, Mississippi. Dexter has a bad attitude about him. Although no-one is happy about going to war, he especially dislikes it, and can sometimes be hostile towards his fellow man because of this. He argues with everyone, and is constantly at the centre of all fights. He earns the respect of the other 11 because he is a good soldier; but then again he loses some because he always questions the orders given. He would have been Court-Martialled right before June, but the progress of the upcoming invasion saved him. Is especially disliked by both Pfc. Ronald Bellington and Pfc. Matt Johnston - just about the only thing those two have in common. He is tall and slim, and has blonde hair, in his early twenties. ((ASSAULT TEAM))
Private Joseph "Joe" Gerstmann
The only Jewish man of the stick. A young and talented soldier in his late teens, has a particular revengeful mind against the German for obvious reasons. Behind his back, the rest of the guys call him 'Joe The German', as it comes fairly close to his name. But because of his hatred toward the Nazi's, no-one ever dares say it too him. He excelled through the paratroopers with a one-track mind. The only reason he hasn't been promoted to Pfc. is because of his very young age (19), or so some think. Joe isn't really there for the promotions, just wants his fair share of Germans. Fairly handsome, dark toned and has jet black hair; with matching eyes. Originally from Millard County, Utah. His family originates from Breman, Germany; but fled to the US after The Great War before Joe was born. ((RADIO OPERATOR))
Medic Michael "Doc" Brown
At 19 years of age, Brown is 1st Platoons Medic. He's not much of a combat stylist, more of a geek. He is only fairly short, with ginger hair. He wears round eye glasses. Brown was called up in 1943, after a 2 year stint as part of a trainee medical scheme in Albemare Medical Centre, Elizabeth City, Pasqutank County, North Carolina; where he grew up. A fine young medic with an eager mind, he excelled above the rest of his class - and hopes that when the war is over, he can return to his practise. Brown has never treated anything too seriously, so he fears of what he may see during combat. He knows that when a soldier has fallen; they are gonna call out to him, right in the middle of a firefight. A panicky young man, he knows he skills and determination will be tested. His fellow soldiers do not appreciate the idea of a 19 year old kid being the only one out of the twelve to be able to fully treat them if wounded. They feel he needs to prove himself, he feels he shouldn't have had to in the first place. ((MEDICAL TEAM))
Technician 5th Grade Jack Welsh
Welsh, as a Technician 5th Grade has the rank above Pfc. but no authority. He is the engineer of the group. If something needs reparing or building, Welsh is your man. A happy-go-lucky character, he is popular among the group. Even though he can't use authority at all; he doesn't let that bother him. He doesn't want to be in charge of any men, but unlike Corporal Burgess; this is not because of the fear of responcibility - it is because he is very good friends with them all, and doesn't want to be looked at as anything else. His best friend in the group is Pfc. Paddy McGuiness. Welsh is from Clackamas, Oregan; and is in his mid-twenties. Mousey brown hair and hazel eyes. ((ENGINEER))
